Biography
About
Scott Melvin, Vice President of School Relations, leads the school’s comprehensive advancement efforts, including philanthropy and development, alumni and family relations, and communications and marketing. Since joining Mater Dei in 2004, Scott has served in a variety of leadership roles, and plays a key leadership role in the Spirit of Mater Dei capital campaign and the continued development of the school’s campus and programs.
Earlier in his career, Scott served as Mater Dei’s Executive Director of Performing Arts and as a Director of Choral and Vocal Music. He holds a Master of Arts Administration from the University of Kentucky, specializing in nonprofit management, and bachelor’s degrees in Music Performance and Music Education from Chapman University. He lives in Ornage with his wife, Debbie and their three daughters, Emmerly, Nola and Aveline.

I love that there is an avenue for every student to develop into a happy, successful, and faith-filled young adult who has the capacity to make the world a better place.
Other experience
At the collegiate level, Mr. Melvin directed the CSULB Men's Chorale as well as teaching beginning theory, and as a faculty member at Chapman University, Mr. Melvin has directed the University Chorale and Men's Chorale.
In addition, Mr. Melvin is the Lead Musician at Redeemer OC in Newport Beach. He served as Director of Music at Christ Our Savior Catholic Parish in Santa Ana and as the Choir Director at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Parish in Huntington Beach. He is a frequent clinician throughout the Southern California area.
Education: M.A.A., Master of Arts Administration - University of Kentucky (Summa Cum Laude); B.M., Performance, emphasis in Choral Conducting - Chapman University, B.M., Music Education, emphasis in Voice - Chapman University (Summa Cum Laude).
