Directed Studies Policies

Students may take one (1) Directed Studies course per semester. If students are interested in taking more than one (1) course per semester, Assistant Principal approval is required.
The letter grade earned will be included in the note section on the Mater Dei transcript and will not be calculated in the Mater Dei GPA. The class will reflect in the body of their Mater Dei transcript as Directed Studies for Credit or No Credit.
If students take a Directed Studies course outside of their Mater Dei schedule, the course will be listed in the notes section of the transcript and will not be included in their Mater Dei GPA.

Fees

Directed Studies courses require an additional fee per semester.
College Prep courses: $500 per course per semester
Advanced Placement courses: $550 per semester per course

Enrollment and Payment Deadlines: Fall/Spring Semesters
Enrollment Begins: First Day of Semester
Enrollment Ends: End of first Month of the Semester
Payment Due: End of First Week of Semester (Payment is required before enrollment in course)
Courses Begin: Second Week of Semester
Drop Date: End of first Month of the Semester (If student demonstrates no progress in course work, he/she must drop the course by this date)
End Date: Last Day of Semester Exams

The Directed Studies program provides students the opportunity to take career-specific and elective courses online. These courses are self-guided and require students to have independent discipline and may require them to work through school issued breaks. Students may take one (1) Directed Studies course per semester. If students are interested in taking more than one (1) course per semester, Assistant Principal approval is required.
