Filming on Campus

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in filming at Mater Dei High School. Below are a few links and information to help you get started on filming here.

Insurance:
If you are looking to film on the Mater Dei Campus please make sure that your current policy has coverage up to 2 Million dollars. If you are a school please talk to your adviser about raising the limit and be sure you are able to before coming to film on campus.

Medical:
In order to film here you need to make sure that one member of your crew is CPR & first aid certified. These are two different certifications so please make sure they have both. If you are contacting us from a college program then please look at what your school offers as they tend to have classes for cheap. If you are contacting us from an outside production then please be sure you will have those certifications before the film date from an organization like the Red Cross.

Sports Facilities Rental Info:
Our sports facilities are only able to be rented out to non for profit organizations like schools and universities.

Classroom and other facilities rentals:
Mater Dei has state of the art classrooms and athletic facilities. When you contact please be specific on what area of campus you would like to film or schedule a time to come view the campus in person before continuing. Something to keep in mind while filming on campus is that we ask you not to shoot any Logos in your film. We ask that you shoot with them excluded or removed them in post production via rotoscoping or some other tool.

Campus photos:
Mater Dei has amazing state of the art facilities that are constantly being updated. In these two Flickr albums there are 360 photos of our campus and regular photos of our classrooms. This album is constantly updating as we are constantly updating our campus and facilities. We also this Virtual Tour Video of our campus that has more areas than in the 360 videos.

Timeline:
Be sure to contact the school at the very least a 6 weeks before your desired film dates. The more time you give the greater chance you have of getting approved and booking the desired dates. If you are interested in filming on campus it is highly suggested that you take a look at our calendar to see if there are conflicting activities going on on campus that would interfere or prevent you from filming in a desired location. If you do see something please feel free to ask about it as they may only be using a partial area or another location might be suggested. You will need to submit a synopsis of your film in order to get approval. We reserve the right to reject any film project that does not coincide with our catholic teachings and ideals here at Mater Dei.

Power Needs:
Please make sure when you are doing a walk through of your filming location that you locate appropriate power outlets and make our head of facilities aware of your needs when speaking with him.

Costs:
Costs per location will depend on what area of campus you would like to use. Once you have confirmed that you can get the other items completed such as the CPR training and Insurance, you will be directed to our head of facilities who will process your request and go over the cost with you.

Student Shadows:
Here at Mater Dei we have many students interested in Film and television. We ask that should you come film on campus you allow students to shadow your crew and ask questions. We obviously don't want to impede on your filming or hinder in anyway but we would love to give our students an opportunity they might have. They would not be able to help set up or do any major involvement as that would create a liability issue but anything else and in between would be tremendous.

Final Steps:
Once you have all your materials together you will be directed to our head of facilities. He will take all the information and submit it to our admin board for their approval. Once you have it approved he will get more into detail about what will happen on your day of filming and the logistics.
