Tuition Assistance Information

Mater Dei High School partners with FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment to conduct a comprehensive financial need analysis. The FACTS system uses established financial criteria and geographic considerations to help determine potential award amounts.

The Tuition Assistance application process is separate from admissions, and all personal and financial information is kept strictly confidential. After FACTS completes its analysis, the Mater Dei Financial Review Committee carefully reviews the information and makes final award decisions. Tuition Assistance awards are determined based on FACTS’ assessment, Mater Dei’s internal criteria, and the family’s expected contribution. All awards are communicated to families through FACTS by the Mater Dei Business Office.

New families may begin the Tuition Assistance process before the official notification of their student’s acceptance and final registration. However, they must be Early Qualified  by Mater Dei before they will hear back from the financial review committee on their potential Tuition Assistance grant. It is advised that families work on admissions and Tuition Assistance applications concurrently. Returning families must re-apply for Tuition Assistance each year. 

Application Deadline: December 8, 2025

We continue to accept and review Tuition Assistance applications after the stated deadline; however, due to high demand for need-based assistance, we strongly encourage families to submit all required materials on time. For incoming freshman families, applications submitted after the December 8, 2025 deadline will receive notification of any Tuition Assistance grant after January 9, 2026.

Families who submit their Tuition Assistance application and supporting documents after the deadline may risk not receiving assistance for the upcoming school year.

We are pleased to share information about a tax provision that offers a valuable opportunity for families paying private school tuition. The 529 plan, a widely used educational savings tool that allows parents to contribute with after-tax dollars, includes an expansion allowing for greater flexibility. Contributions grow tax-free, and withdrawals for qualified education expenses remain exempt from capital gains taxes.

Under this provision, families can withdraw up to $10,000 per year, per child, from a 529 plan specifically for private or religious school expenses. The same tax benefits that apply to higher education withdrawals also apply to these K-12 expenses.

We encourage families to explore this 529 plan option and consult with a tax professional to fully understand the potential benefits and how this provision may support your family’s educational planning.

Receiving tuition assistance is a privilege and as the parent of your child, you are entering into a partnership with Mater Dei High School which is investing in your child’s education. By accepting the tuition assistance as listed above, you the parent / guardian agree to the following requirements for the tuition assistance grant from Mater Dei High School. 

1. Academic Performance: Student must maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 throughout the academic period associated with the tuition assistance as stated above.
2. Behavior & Conduct: As a representative of Mater Dei High School, student must demonstrate good behavior both on and off campus.
3. Discipline Record: Student must maintain a clean disciplinary record with no major infractions as stated in the Mater Dei High School Parent-Student Handbook.
4. Community Involvement: Student must complete required number of service hours each semester as listed in the Mater Dei High School Parent-Student Handbook.
5. Attendance: Student must maintain an attendance record in compliance with the Mater Dei High School Parent-Student Handbook.

If these requirements are not met for the duration of the period that the above tuition assistance is granted, the tuition assistance may be removed from your account and future financial assistance may be forfeited as determined by the school’s administration.

Additional Grant Opportunities
There are two grants available through the Advancement & Alumni Office; These are internal grant opportunities made possible by the generosity of MD benefactors, alumni, and the administration. These grants must be applied for annually. Please note that the deadlines always coincide with the MDHS Business Office FACTS Tuition Assistance Application deadline.

To be considered for these additional grants, recipients must apply for Tuition Assistance through FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment by the given deadline each year.
