Jubilee 2025 - Pilgrims of Hope
As a Mater Dei Community united in faith and love, we take part in this great celebration of the Jubilee Year in the life of the Church. 2025 is the Jubilee Year for the Catholic Church. Pope Francis stated in his February 2022 letter announced the celebration of this holy year with the theme PILGRIMS OF HOPE. Throughout the year, we will share information and resources on how we can actively partake in celebrating Jubilee 2025.
- A Jubilee is a special year of grace in the Catholic Church, celebrated every 25 years, and dedicated to prayer, renewal, and growing closer to God.
- The name comes from the instrument used to mark its launch. In this case, the instrument in question is the yobel, the ram's horn, used to proclaim the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur).
- Having its root in the bible, it was intended to be marked as a time to re-establish a proper relationship with God, with one another, and with all of creation, and involved the forgiveness of debts, the return of misappropriated land, and a fallow period for the fields.
Characteristics of the Jubilee
