Mater Dei High School is pleased to announce Ashley VanBoxmeer as the new Head Coach of the Softball Program. VanBoxmeer joins Mater Dei with an accomplished softball background as a collegiate and international athlete and more than 15 years of coaching, player development, and leadership experience. Throughout her coaching career, she has focused on establishing high-performance standards, building strong team cultures, and helping athletes grow in their skills, confidence, and understanding of the game.
A Southern California native and CIF Champion at El Modena High School, VanBoxmeer continued her playing career at the University of New Mexico and Cal State Fullerton, earning All-Big West, All-Mountain West, and All-Region honors. She also competed internationally as a five-year member of the Canadian National Softball Team.
“Coach VanBoxmeer brings an impressive combination of high-level playing experience, coaching knowledge, and leadership to Mater Dei,” said Dr. Ken Miller, Executive Director of Athletics. “She understands the expectations that come with competing at an elite level, while recognizing the importance of developing the whole student-athlete. Her commitment to faith, character, and ethics reflects our values of Honor, Glory, and Love. She is a great addition to our Monarch community.”
For VanBoxmeer, the opportunity to lead Mater Dei Softball is one she embraces with gratitude and purpose.

My goal is to develop confident young women, create a championship-level culture, and build a softball program that consistently competes at the highest level. I’m incredibly excited to get to work, build relationships with our athletes and families, and represent the Monarch community with pride.”
