June 23, 2026

Mater Dei High School is proud to welcome Brett Luch as the new Head Coach of the Boys Water Polo Program. Luch has coached at the high school, club, and Olympic Development Program levels, building a reputation for developing student-athletes and creating championship-caliber programs.

A stand-out athlete at Carmel High School, Luch earned League MVP and All-CCS honors while serving as team captain and leading his team to multiple league championships and postseason appearances. He went on to compete at both the Division I and Division III collegiate levels, gaining valuable experience with nationally competitive programs before transitioning into a coaching career dedicated to developing the next generation of water polo athletes. Luch is currently the 12U Head Coach and 14U Assistant Coach for Mission Water Polo Club. His 12U team is the defending Futures Superfinals Champion and placed 5th at Junior Olympics.

“Brett Luch is a proven leader who understands that the true purpose of athletics extends beyond competition,” said Dr. Ken Miller, Executive Director of Athletics. “His commitment to faith, character, and excellence makes him an exceptional fit for Mater Dei. We also look forward to Brett’s teaching of the complex technical skills of the game of water polo to our student-athletes of excellence. We are very enthusiastic to welcome him to our Monarch community.”

Luch shared his excitement to join the Mater Dei family: “I am honored to join a community with such a strong tradition of excellence,” said Luch. “What excites me most is the opportunity to help young men grow not only as athletes, but also as people of faith, character, and purpose. I look forward to helping them develop the confidence and values that will serve them well beyond the pool.”

Mater Dei High School looks forward to the next chapter of Boys Water Polo under Coach Luch’s leadership.
