Monarch of the Month: April 2026 - Lucy Heit

Lucy Heit ’26 chose Mater Dei after falling in love with the school’s welcoming community, a place where she has grown as a leader, teammate, and person of faith. Throughout her time on campus, she has embraced opportunities to serve others and build meaningful connections within the Monarch family.

Before coming to Mater Dei, Lucy attended Mission Basilica School in San Juan Capistrano and remains an active member of the Mission Basilica parish community. At Mater Dei, she serves as ASB Head Rally Commissioner, a Spiritual Leader in Campus Ministry, a member of the swim team, and president of RAD Club, bringing energy and leadership to each of these roles.

Lucy holds a 4.2 GPA and has been recognized for her dedication to service, accumulating more than 1,000 service hours during her time as a Monarch. Much of her time has been spent with Lighthouse Group and RAD Camp, where she works with individuals with special needs, building relationships and creating a joyful, supportive environment.

Lucy’s understanding of Honor, Glory, and Love is rooted in respect, faith, and kindness, values she lives out daily through her leadership and service to others. She credits the Mater Dei community as a whole for having the greatest impact on her experience, recognizing the example set by faculty and staff across campus.

Her favorite Mater Dei tradition is the senior rally, a moment she looks forward to as a time to reflect on the journey she and her classmates have shared.

Lucy describes her Mater Dei experience in one word as impactful, reflecting the relationships, growth, and service that have defined her time at the school.

After graduation, Lucy plans to attend Texas Tech University, where she will study speech language and hearing sciences with the goal of becoming a speech pathologist.

Outside of school, Lucy enjoys spending time at the beach, swimming in the ocean, and being with her friends.
