A legacy Monarch with deep family roots at Mater Dei, Charlie Lowe ’26 has carved out his own path through a remarkable blend of academic excellence, artistic talent, and wholehearted involvement across campus. A graduate of Our Lady Queen of Angels in Newport Beach, Charlie chose Mater Dei after seeing firsthand the impact the school had on his siblings, especially in the performing arts, and quickly found his place in a wide range of programs.
Charlie is a dedicated member of the Boys Tennis Team, Robotics Team, and the Visual Arts Program, and this year he pushed himself to try something new by joining the choral music program. His passion for learning shines in the classroom, where he maintains an impressive 4.54 GPA and recently earned first place in the Visual Arts Show. His peers and teachers know him as someone who leads with curiosity, kindness, and collaboration.
When surprised with the Monarch of the Month recognition, Charlie shared how proud and grateful he felt, noting the tight knit friendships and sense of belonging he has built, especially within Robotics where some of his favorite memories were made.
Charlie’s faith and values are grounded in the spirit of Honor, Glory, and Love, especially the love that has shaped the community he cherishes most. He has volunteered his time with Second Harvest Food Bank, where he values the opportunity to directly support families in need.
Among the teachers who have shaped his journey, Charlie credits Mrs. Marsh in the World Languages Department and Mrs. Hartman in the Visual Arts Program for inspiring his growth as both an artist and a student of Chinese language and culture.
Outside of school, Charlie enjoys painting, drawing, gaming with friends, and spending time with his dog. After Mater Dei, he plans to study Biology with hopes of becoming a research doctor.
One word Charlie uses to describe his Mater Dei experience: Friendship.
