The 25th Annual Mater Dei Family Mass & Pancake Breakfast took place on Sunday, October 11, 2009. Proceeds from this year's event benefited the wonderful works of the Mater Dei Lions Share Program.
Since its inception in 2002, the Lions Share Program has had an extraordinary impact on our surrounding community as well as our students. Through Lions Share outreach, students work together to prepare over 250 meals every week and personally distribute them to hungry and homeless families in downtown Santa Ana. During the weekly visit, the students also spend quality time with homeless children. This community service experience teaches a kind of caring and compassion that cannot be taught in the classroom, and leads to personal growth and a commitment to service within our students.
In keeping with Mater Dei's commitment to tradition, we honored grandparents of our current Mater Dei students for all of the love and support they continually and generously provide to Mater Dei and her students.
Many grandparents were in attendance at Family Mass. Complimentary family photos were taken during Mass and at breakfast. Please visit www.materdei.org/grandparents to view photos from Mass and learn how to obtain a copy of your family's photo.
