Senior Awards Night

Senior Awards Night is a special convocation held to laud the graduating seniors receiving honors, awards, and scholarships from Mater Dei High School, MD alumni and families, universities, and state and national organizations. Seniors will be recognized for their many special gifts and talents, from academic distinction to athletic excellence, for personal character, dedication to service, and more.

Senior Awards 2018

Date and Time: Wednesday May 23, 2018, 6:00pm
Location: LeVecke Center, Mater Dei High School 

All students and their families and guests are welcome to join the celebration. Recipients of honors and scholarships are expected to attend.

Dress Code

For Male Students: Dress slacks, dress shirt, suit jacket/blazer and tie, dress socks/shoes. Earrings and tongue rings are NEVER permitted. Jeans, corduroys, cargo/carpenter and Dickies are NOT permitted.

For Female Students: Dresses, dress pants or pant suits, or skirts with blouses or sweaters and dress shoes. Dickies are not considered dress up slacks.  Mini dresses and spaghetti straps are not permitted. All dresses must conform to Mater Dei dress code standards for modesty. Dresses cannot be more than 3 inches above the knee. Sandals or flip-flops are not permitted.

Students who do not follow the above dress code
will not be allowed to attend the Awards Ceremony.

MITCHELL RIMLINGER PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP

 

Criteria/Requirements

The Mitchell Rimlinger Performing Arts Scholarship recognizes a graduating senior student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who has participated in a performing arts program during all four years at Mater Dei.

 

In a desire to support students at MDHS with demonstrated financial need, Mitchell’s family has established the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate financial need (receiving aid at Mater Dei)
  • Student in a MD performing arts program all 4 years
  • GPA of 3.00 or higher
  • One-page essay describing how participation in performing arts has furthered your development at Mater Dei, how you have grown as a leader during your time here, and how you plan to use the talents and skills you have acquired to further your academic studies and your transition into a career

SCOTT DAVIS THEATRE ARTS COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

 

Criteria/Requirements

The Davis family established the following scholarship criteria:

  • A graduating senior who has participated in the Theatre Arts Program
  • Submit a short essay describing how your participation the MDHS Theatre Arts Program has prepared you for college and life
  • Submit two (2) teacher endorsement emails, one (1) from a Teacher and one (1) from a Theatre Arts Teacher (Please see instructions in application)

SCOTT DAVIS WRESTLING COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

 

Criteria/Requirements

The Davis family established the following scholarship criteria:

  • A graduating senior who has participated in the Wrestling Program
  • Submit a short essay describing how your participation the MDHS Wrestling Program has prepared you for college and life
  • Submit two (2) teacher endorsement emails, one (1) from a Teacher and one (1) from a Theatre Arts Teacher (Please see instructions in application)

SUPPORTABILITY FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

 

Criteria/Requirements

SupportAbility has established the following scholarship criteria:

  • A graduating senior who shows courage by going forward in the face of a permanent physical disability
  • Student who will apply award to a four-year college and graduate
  • Submit an essay of 1500 words or less describing your courageous situation, being specific and giving details pertaining to your own story
  • Submit two (2) letters of recommendation
  • A scheduled interview will follow

JULIE INMAN COURAGE AWARD

 

Criteria/Requirements

The Inman family has established the following scholarship criteria:

  • A graduating senior who shows courage by going forward after a life-changing event, like a tremendous personal obstacle
  • A student who shows courage and determination over physical and/or learning disabilities, illness of self or a family member, the death of a loved one and/or unusually difficult circumstances at home
  • Student who will apply award to further educational or vocational goals
  • Submit an essay of 1000 words or less describing your courageous situation, being specific and giving details pertaining to your own story

JANE NOEBEL MEMORIAL COURAGE AWARD

 

Criteria/Requirements

The Noebel Family has established the following scholarship criteria:

  • A graduating senior who shows courage by going forward while dealing with cancer or a survivor of cancer
  • Student who will apply award to further educational or vocational goals
  • Submit an essay of 1000 words or less describing your courageous situation, being specific and giving details pertaining to your own story

Application due date: Sunday April 1st, 2018

MICHAEL MOTHERWAY COURAGE AWARD

 

Criteria/Requirements

The Motherway Family has established the following scholarship criteria:

  • A graduating senior who shows courage and dignity by going forward when faced with a life-ending illness or life-changing disability
  • Student who will apply award to further educational or vocational goals
  • Submit an essay of 1000 words or less describing your courageous situation, being specific and giving details pertaining to your own story

Application due date: Sunday April 1st, 2018

URNER FAMILY WOMEN’S ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

The Urner Family Women’s Athletic Scholarship recognizes a female scholar athlete with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who has participated in her sport all four years while at Mater Dei.

 

Criteria/Requirements:

In the desire to support students at MDHS with demonstrated financial need, the Urner family has established the following criteria:

* Demonstrate financial need (receiving aid at Mater Dei)

* Female student athlete participating in athletics all four years, not required to be in the same sport every year

* GPA of 3.00 or higher

* One-page essay describing your journey in athletics and your vision on how to use the talents you have developed to further your academic studies and then transition into a career that leverages those talents.

* The recipient of this award will be announced at Senior Awards Night, May 23, 2018 at 6pm.

URNER FAMILY WOMEN’S CHORAL ARTS SCHOLARSHIP

The Urner Family Women’s Choral Arts Scholarship recognizes a female student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who has participated in the choral arts program all four years while at Mater Dei.

 

Criteria/Requirements:

In the desire to support students at MDHS with demonstrated financial need, the Urner family has established the following criteria:

* Demonstrate financial need (receiving aid at Mater Dei)

* Female student in the MD choral arts program all 4 years

* GPA of 3.00 or higher

* One-page essay describing your journey in choral arts and your vision and intentions on how to use the talents you have developed to further your academic studies and then transition into a career

* The recipient of this award will be announced at Senior Awards Night, May 23, 2018 at 6pm

MATER DEI SENIOR ALUMNI HERITAGE FUND

This award is made possible through the generosity of Mater Dei Alumni towards the Alumni Heritage Fund.  

 

Criteria/Requirements:

  • All students applying for this award must be planned to continue their education full time in the fall of 2018.
  • All members of the Class of 2018 are eligible to apply for this award.
  

Application due date: Monday, April 16, 2018 by 9am
