On February 10th Mater Dei held its all school auction, A Taste of Mater Dei. This year the event was brought back home and held in Meruelo Athletic Center. The Auction this was a tremendous success for the school with 500 people in attendance and over $400,000 raised for school programs.
Marquee event sponsors, The Shiley Foundation (San Diego) and Checkpoint Communications, along with presenting dinner sponsor, California Pizza Kitchen, drew a huge crowd that bid on hundreds of silent and live auction items. Fan favorites included a private jet to Las Vegas to see the Monarch football team take on Bishop Gorman High School in August followed by trips to Montana and Golfing and Beer tasting at the Guinness Factory in Ireland. Evening entertainment included Mater Dei’s own Jazz Band along with the infamous City City College band.
Major Sponsors included Farmers and Merchants Bank, the Seidner Family, The Fanticola & Knode Families, Hampton Holley LLP, The Freedman Family and the Trotter Family.
The event was a success thanks to current parent chairs Janine Poletti (Huntington Beach), Cristina Aguirre (Tustin) and Yolanda Lilly (Tustin).
