Mater Dei High School is home to students with many diverse talents, abilities and interests. Our school offers 21 CIF-sanctioned sports, ranging from football to tennis to water polo. Annually, our Monarch athletic teams celebrate league and CIF Championships, as well as state and county titles (during the last decade Mater Dei's Varsity sports teams have captured 28 CIF, 7 state and 2 national championships).
In order to meet the demands of our school's ever growing athletic program, we have constructed the new Meruelo Athletic Center & William Lyon Homes Aquatics Complex. This new facility houses a three-court, 3,200 seat gymnasium; the Monarch Hall of Fame; a wrestling room; a 10-lane, 25 meter swimming pool; a training/rehabilitation center; weight training/conditioning center; locker rooms; equipment rooms and offices for the dedicated coaching staff.
In addition, all of the athletic fields as well as the track have been fully reconstructed. These facilities make-up the outdoor area: the Football and Soccer Field, "Rick's Track," and The Rod Dedeaux Baseball Complex at Joe O'Hara Field.

or by phone at (714) 850-9534 for more information. This fully integrated, on-campus athletic facility for both our girls and boys athletic programs helps build on the incredible tradition already established by the legacy of the great Monarch programs of the past.
In addition, these new facilities improve safety conditions for our student-athletes and decrease off-campus and late night practice requirements, giving students more academic and family time.
