Credit Advancement FAQs:
A: Since they cover either one or two semesters of material, Credit Advancement courses will require a substantial amount of homework. These courses may require longer online course meetings and if that is the case, instructors will build in breaks or allow breaks as needed.
Q: How do Mater Dei students qualify for an Honors Math placement in the Fall?A: In order to qualify for an Honors placement in the fall, you must achieve an A in the class plus an 80% or higher on the final exam with teacher recommendation. For any challenges to this placement, you may contact the Math Department Chair, Mr. Vasquez at avasquez@materdei.org.
Q: Trying to work around busy Summer schedules?A: Check with coaches of Summer athletic camps if there is a slight overlap in times. Any planned absences of more than 3 days need to be cleared with the Summer School Office summerschool@materdei.org in advance and should be noted on the registration form. Absences for online courses are defined as being unable to login during the class time.
Q: Are these Honors courses?
A: The Credit Advancement courses are College Preparatory level, not Honors credit courses. Students who take Credit Advancement courses complete additional credits and get to higher levels in their coursework faster, which are benefits.

Refund Policy
If a class is cancelled, or the student drops a class prior to the first day of Summer School (June 21st 2021- must notify summerschool@materdei.org by June 20th 2021), fees will be refunded in full. If the student drops a class during the first week of summer school (June 21st- June 25th 2021), 50% of the fees will be refunded if the Summer School Office is notified that the student is dropping the class by June 25th 2021. There will be no refunds for class(es) dropped after June 25th 2021. Classes will only be dropped when the Summer School Office is notified a student will no longer be attending. If a student is expelled from Summer School, no refund will be given.
No refunds will be issued if the student does not contact the Summer School Office by June 20th 2021 to correct any errors in course enrollment (e.g. student registers for Algebra 1 when Algebra 1A is needed, or 1st semester when 2nd semester is needed). Please consult your Academic Counselor prior to registering for Summer School if you are unsure of which course(s) or semester(s) to select. If you realize that you have registered for the wrong course or semester, please contact us by June 20th 2021.
No refunds will be issued if a student does not earn credits for a course and/or does not earn their desired placement(s) for the next school year. Students should contact the relevant Department Chair to ensure that they will receive credit for a course and are aware of placement requirements.
For Workshops only, students may request a refund up to 48 hours prior to the start of the Workshop by contacting summerschool@materdei.org. No refunds will be given after the start of the Workshop.
