1950 Day

1950daymasthead

1950 Day is Friday, October 15, but you can make your gift early and be counted among our first donors on the big day. Let’s come together in support of Mater Dei by making a gift of any amount that is meaningful to you.

Our new President, Father Walter, had no idea what he was getting himself into with 1950 Day! He and his trusty sidekick, Sir Lancelot, are ready to inspire your generosity for our annual giving day. Enjoy their giving day video below!

WHAT IS 1950 DAY?
1950 Day is Mater Dei High School's giving day. This is our opportunity to show pride and gratitude for the impact Mater Dei has had on each of us as alumni, current students and parents, lifetime parents, grandparents, faculty/staff, and friends of this great high school. All Monarch families are encouraged to band together in the spirit of honor, glory and love and make a gift of any size. We are stronger together and have the opportunity to make a significant impact in just 24 hours. Since starting this tradition of giving back to MD, we have raised over $425,000!

WHEN IS 1950 DAY?
Our 4th Annual 1950 Day will take place on Friday, October 15, 2021 just in time for Homecoming.

WHY 1950?
Mater Dei High School opened its doors in 1950. In 70+ years, we have grown from a local, Catholic, college preparatory high school to a world-renowned destination of excellence in academics, visual and performing arts, campus ministry, student activities, and athletics.

WHERE ARE THE PROCEEDS DIRECTED?
Proceeds from 1950 Day benefit need-based financial aid at Mater Dei High School. Approximately 50% of our students are receiving support for the 2021-22 school year.

CAN I MAKE A GIFT THROUGH MY DONOR ADVISED FUND?
Gifts to Mater Dei from your donor advised fund are always encouraged! Please contact your plan administrator to request for your gift to be directed to Mater Dei High School. For our giving day counting totals, we appreciate advanced notice of your donor advised fund disbursement. Please call us at (714) 850-9534 or e-mail alumni@materdei.org with this great news.

DO YOU ACCEPT GIFTS OF APPRECIATED STOCK OR WIRE TRANSFERS?
We are happy to accept stock or wire transfers. Please contact (714) 850-9534 or e-mail alumni@materdei.org for instructions.

CAN MY GIFT BE MATCHED BY MY EMPLOYER?
If your company sponsors a matching gift program, you can easily increase the impact your gift will have on students, faculty and programs at Mater Dei. Most participating companies will match employee gifts dollar for dollar. Some will even double or triple-match a gift! Click here for our search tool for matching gift companies.

IS THERE A MINIMUM GIFT AMOUNT?
There is no minimum gift amount for 1950 Day. Gifts of all sizes from all walks of life are encouraged - young alumni, grandparents, current parents and students, lifetime parents, faculty/staff, and friends. However, the online giving minimum is $10.00 due to transaction fees. Gifts of any amount can be mailed or delivered to Mater Dei via check or cash. See answer above for "how to make a gift on 1950 Day."

WILL MY GIFT BE TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
All donations to Mater Dei and 1950 day are tax deductible.

I ALREADY MADE MY GIFT TO MATER DEI THIS YEAR. WILL THAT COUNT FOR 1950 DAY?
If you have recently given to Mater Dei, thank you! We appreciate your support and loyalty! Mater Dei operates on an academic fiscal year (July 1 - June 30) and the size and scope of our school allows us to offer a menu of ways for our generous community to give back (ex: annual fund for financial aid, capital projects, affinity giving, memorial/scholarship funds). We hope that you will consider making an additional gift of any amount in support of this important initiative.

WHAT OTHER WAYS CAN I HELP 1950 DAY BE A SUCCESS?

Tell us why you gave back! Please tag Mater Dei #WeAreMD #1950Day.
