Greatness & Gratitude: Leticia Oseguera '94

As a student at Mater Dei High School in the 1990s, Dr. Leticia Oseguera excelled in the classroom and on the courts with the girls’ basketball program. Now, as an Associate Professor in the Department of Education Policy Studies at Pennsylvania State University, she looks back on how Mater Dei figured prominently in her educational and career trajectory. Dr. Oseguera is grateful for the gift of financial aid she received during her years as a Monarch and is inspired by this generation of students who continue to thrive.
Leticia's story clearly exemplifies the long-term benefits of a Catholic education at Mater High School and the transformative impact that financial aid can have on a student who otherwise would not be able to attend MD.
Currently 55% of our Monarchs could not attend Mater Dei without need-based financial aid, which truly benefits the entire student body. Every child reaps the benefits of a school that is diverse, inclusive and comprehensive in all of its programs and services as well as in its mission and philosophy.
Our most critical area of need is financial aid. You can support us now through a gift to the Annual Fund or in the future with a gift from your estate through our legacy giving program.
