On Campus Resources
In the spirit of the Gospel, Campus Ministry at Mater Dei High School exists to support the spiritual growth of the school community (faculty, staff, students, parents and alumni).
- The structure for the Mater Dei community to experience and grow in their spiritual life.
- Opportunities for the Mater Dei community to live out the gospel vales as taught by Jesus by sharing their gifts in service to others.
- Participation by students in parish and faith communities.
- Prayer that is inclusive and appreciative of our diverse multicultural community.
Guidance & Counseling
Mater Dei students are assigned to their counselor alphabetically by last name. Counselors are available to assist with academic guidance, college and career planning, and wellness counseling and referral. We provide individual meetings, family conferences, classroom lessons, student/parent workshops and more.
The Mater Dei High School counseling office is located between the 400 and 700 wings, on the second floor above the library. The Registrar, Wellness Counselors, and International Student Director are also located in the counseling office.
We know that when children are burdened with family or personal problems they cannot concentrate in school, and the benefit of a private education can be wasted. That's why we believe in treating the whole child. We work closely with families and teachers to ensure the best possibility of success in school.
Our staff is comprised of licensed mental health professionals and highly trained, qualified intern-counselors. On-campus counselors give hurting kids direct access to a confidential source of help, when and where they need it most. Our 24 hour Crisis Hotline number posted around campus further assures kids can reach out for help any hour of the day or night. All counseling work is closely supervised by licensed clinicians working within the code of standards and ethics set forth by the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
