We are looking forward to a great start to the school year and appreciate everyone's support as we welcome students back to campus. As with any new year, we have noticed some areas which need to be reviewed in an effort to help keep everyone safe. Click here for a map with the directions explained below.

Therefore, we are asking families dropping off or picking up students at school to follow the following procedure:

Entering the Main Parking Lot During the Morning Student Drop-Off and Afternoon Pick Up Period
Drivers wishing to drop off their students in the morning before school or pick up their student after school may enter the parking lot from Edinger Avenue.

The St. Andrew Place gate entrance is reserved exclusively for Faculty/Staff who park in the parking structure, students who have valid parking permits for the parking structure and Seniors who have reserved parking spaces in the Senior parking lot.

Drivers dropping off students should follow the Campus Safety Officers’ directions. Campus Safety officers will direct traffic to the designated drop off zones located near the front gates of the school and along the west curb line of the parking lot.

As a reminder, numbered parking spots in the Main Parking Lot are “reserved” and assigned to specific personnel. Therefore, drivers dropping off/picking up students should not park in a numbered parking space or stop in the aisles to drop off students.  If a driver must park in a parking space, they should park in a designated visitor space near the front of the school.  Numbered spaces are assigned to staff and students and if they are occupied, may result in a staff member or student being late for class. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Exiting the Main Parking Lot During the Morning Student Drop-Off and Afternoon Pick Up Period
Drivers exiting the Main Parking Lot during the morning drop off/afternoon pick period should follow the Campus Safety Officers’ directions.  Unless otherwise directed, drivers exiting the St. Andrew Place gate must turn right onto St. Andrew. Although we recognize this may cause an inconvenience for some drivers, it should improve both safety and traffic flow in the parking lot.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience. If you have any questions, please contact Jack Conklin at [email protected]

Mater Dei provides each student and teaching faculty member with an Apple iPad, a device that enhances our students’ learning and overall educational experience and prepares them for college and beyond. The iPad is integrated into all aspects of school, from the core academic classes to performing and visual arts, as well as our many other extracurricular programs. The iPad comes equipped with a keyboard case, giving it the capacity of a laptop with the mobility of a cell phone. It is the most versatile tool for the classroom, which allows teachers to provide dynamic, engaging lessons on a daily basis. Mater Dei remains committed to providing its students with the best education possible, equipping them with the knowledge and tools they will need both now and in the future.

WHAT IS MONARCH CONNECTION?
Monarch Connection is adopted from the nationwide program known as Link Crew. It is designed to welcome and support 9th graders by connecting them with Connection Leaders, who are positive, responsible, hand-selected 11th and 12th graders. Your student’s Connection Leaders will help them feel more comfortable as well as help them achieve success in their first year of high school. Leaders will meet with their groups during monthly Office Hours to check-in and discuss related topics that are specific to our 9th graders. Doesn’t that sound great? It is!

Monarch Connection (Freshmen – Class of 2026)
Friday, August 12
8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Check-in at 7:45 AM
Meruelo Athletic Center

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
  1. Your child will receive an invitation in the mail to Monarch Connection Day. Those invitations were mailed out July 23. If they have not received the invitation by August 1, 2022, please email Mrs. Diana Neustadt at [email protected] to request one.
  2. A day or two before the big event, your child will also receive a phone call or email from their Connection Leader personally inviting them to Connection Day and providing details of where to be and what time. The Leaders can also answer any questions your student may have.
  3. Your student is encouraged not to bring backpacks, purses or other like items as the day is quite active.
  4. Because the day is active, please make sure that your student wears comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement. It is preferred that students wear a Mater Dei t-shirt or polo shirt with jeans or khakis.
  5. Cell phone use is not permitted on this day. Students are welcome to bring them, but they will need to be put away during the sessions.
  6. We encourage all students to bring a refillable water bottle. We will have water stations throughout the campus where bottles can be refilled.
  7. To get an accurate head count for the day, we are asking all incoming Freshmen students to please RSVP for this event. CLICK HERE to let us know if you are able to join us!

Mater Dei is using a new Medical Record System called Healthy Roster. This system is used to communicate important medical notes, incidents, and injuries to parents, medical/nursing staff, and significant school personnel. Your medical information is private. It is required that all students and parents be registered for healthy roster so that pertinent information may be communicated to you in a timely manner if necessary. If your student is currently registered and enrolled at Mater Dei, then their healthy roster account should already exist, and you should have received an invitation to register for their account. If you have not received an email invitation to register for your student’s healthy roster account, please email one of our athletic training staff members and they will assist you in getting registered for healthy roster as soon as possible.

Students may apply for a parking permit at any time throughout the school year, once they receive their Driver’s License or Interim Driver’s License. Students who fail to abide by the rules or directions given by Security will receive consequences, including possible termination of their parking privileges.

This year, there are two types of student parking passes utilized for on-campus parking.

1. Parking Structure Passes for all student drivers. Parking in the structure is available for all students in the order they arrive.
