Eric Johnson
DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR
Eric Johnson returns to Mater Dei after 11 years. Coach Johnson was part of Coach Rollinson staff from 1989-1998 and during that time he served as the Mater Dei Defensive Coordinator from 1991-1998. Coach Johnson was named the Head Fotball Coach at Fountain Valley High School where he served from 1999-2004. For the past 4 years Eric was the Defensive Coordinator at Goldenwest College (2005-2007) and Coronoa Del Mar High School (2007-2009).
Coach Johnson graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Social Science. He was a three year starter for the Courgars at Free Safety and was a teammate with current Mater Dei assistant, John Hopkins. Eric earned All Pac-8 First team honors in his senior year at WSU. Upon graduation from WSU_Eric played for the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers (NFL), Southern California Sun (WFL), New Jersey Generals, and New Orleans Breakers (USFL). Eric has also appeared in the feature films Semi-Tough, North Dallas Forty, and Best of Times. Eric has three adult children, grandson, and granddaughter. He lives with his wife Karen in Santa Ana.
