MDTV News in 3, 2, 1...take camera one and cue the talent. Every morning at 9:05, under the guidance of Mr. Larry Sharp, MDTV broadcasts announcements, campus news and current events. The new MDTV student crew has spent the past year learning how to produce a “live to tape” television program and now the rubber meets the road on a daily basis. The MDTV News show gives students and faculty a window through which to see aspects of school life that they may not have experienced themselves. These aspects consist of sporting events, lunchtime activities, special club or group announcements, “Fired up” with Coach Rollinson, Renaissance giveaways, prayer experiences, student awards and commendations, “Meet the Teacher” and “Student Spotlight.” MDTV Sports broadcasts on local cable TV public-access networks on a periodic basis. The student crew along with professional commentators gives heart-stopping coverage of a previous week's sporting event. Tapes are always available for purchase. MDTV's major fundraising event is the sale of professionally produced video tapes of sporting events, masses, rallies, theater productions, graduation and the “Video Yearbook.” Video yearbook is an exciting re-cap of many of the year's activities as aired on MDTV News and MDTV Sports. Mater Dei Television also provides for the audio and visual communication needs of the high school community at meetings and other events. The privileged of the MDTV crew is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors who enroll in a television production class and are willing and experienced volunteers. TV Production l is offered during block 6. TV Production ll is offered during block 0. TV Production III is offered both 0 and 6 to those who are qualified. The MDTV News Anchoring is an auditioned privileged open to seniors only. Auditions are held in April and May. |
