WHO NEEDS TO TAKE THE MDHS ENTRANCE EXAM? Students applying for FRESHMAN admission for the 2010-11 school year and transfer students who will be SOPHOMORES during the 2010-11 school year. Transfer students who will be juniors or seniors DO NOT need to take the Entrance Exam. Mater Dei High School's entrance exam will be held Saturday, January 30, 2010, beginning at 7:45 a.m. in the Meruelo Athletic Center. The testing fee is $60. The exam tests students' grade level abilities in reading, language, and math skills. A make-up exam will be offered on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 7:45 a.m. Applicants must pay a testing fee ($60) on the day of the exam. Applicants do not need to pre-register for the exam; however, application packets should be completed by January 22, 2010. After completing the standardized exam, student will complete their application essay. Students should bring an index card with the following information, mailing address, contact phone number, and parent contact information. If your student has a documented learning disability, please submit the paperwork with your application so that they will be entitled to extended time on the entrance exam. Results of the Entrance Exam are a major factor in determining a student's acceptance or non-acceptance to Mater Dei High School and are also used in student placement for classes. It is highly recommended that your student test at his first choice school as to expedite test results into the admissions process. |
