Admissions
Every person, as a child of God, regardless of race, condition, or age, has equal dignity and an inalienable right to an education. Therefore, Mater Dei High School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, racial or ethnic origin, in the administration of its educational policies, its admission policies, its grant programs, or in its athletic and other school programs.

Admissions Process & Materials
Parents of students interested in attending Mater Dei High School can request an application packet online by clicking here or in person in the Admissions Office.

Completed application packets are reviewed by the Director of Admissions and Admissions Committee on a rolling basis. 

Submit the following components of the application packet on or before the admissions deadline - January 22, 2010:
  • Application
  • Official transcripts for 7th and 8th grade (first reporting period i.e. 1st quarter or trimester grades)
  • Recommendation form completed by a school counselor, teacher or principal
  • Parish Verification Form
  • Written essay from student explaining why he or she would like to attend Mater Dei High School (Note: This essay is completed on the morning of the entrance exam. Transfer students and those not testing at MDHS must include this in their Application Packet.)
  • Written statement from the parents indicating why they would like their student to attend Mater Dei High School and any other information relevant to the admission committee.
  • Immunization records, including a TB test dated after September 1, 2009.
Acceptance Policy & Notification:
After ALL application components are received in good order (pending the Entrance Exam), the admissions committee will evaluate the student's file and will send either:
  • an "Early Qualification" e-mail to the applicant informing them that they are qualified for acceptance to Mater Dei OR
  • a "Deferred Decision" e-mail indicating that the school needs to have the results of the entrance exam in order to evaluate the applicant's file.
The admissions deadline is January 22, 2010. All students who complete their application on or before the deadline will be notified of their acceptance status by February 2010.

Students who wish to enter grade 9 and who do not meet the admission deadline are welcome to apply to the school at any time; however, we cannot guarantee admission.

Entrance Exam:
Students should take the entrance exam at their first choice school. All Diocesan schools have the same test date. Students applying for the 9th and 10th grade must take the standardized entrance exam.

Mater Dei will be holding the exam on January 30, 2010, from 7:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. Applicants must pay a testing fee of $60 on testing day. A make-up exam will be offered on Saturday, February 13, 2010 from 7:45 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Transfer Students:
Minimum academic requirements apply. Students must have a 2.0 GPA with no "F" grades on their transcript. Mater Dei High School adheres to C.I.F. transfer eligibility rules for athletes. 

Transfer students are accepted based on space availability. We cannot guarantee admission. Those students interested in a semester transfer may obtain a transfer student application by clicking here.

International Students:
Mater Dei High School accepts a limited number of International Students each fall. Click here to create your admissions account and download a PDF of the international student application.

International students must take TOEFL Test, passing with a score of 76 (IBT) or higher, to be considered for admission. Only AFTER the student has been accepted will Mater Dei High School issue an I-20 Form. Mater Dei High School does not offer boarding or have host families. Proof of guardianship and other documentation must be submitted with the application, along with an application fee of $60 and a service fee of $25 (total of $85 due with application).
