In previous years, students were responsible for purchasing their own electronic resources before the start of school. There are two main reasons for the change in e-resource distribution, which began during the 2021-2022 school year. First, Mater Dei began using Federated Managed Apple IDs for student devices starting in the 2021-2022 school year. With this type of Apple ID, students are not able to make purchases in Apple Books or the Apple App Store. Purchases must be made by the school, instead, then distributed to the student device. To maintain consistency for all electronic resources, Mater Dei will distribute codes for non-Apple e-books as well.

The second reason to change our e-resource distribution is for Customer Service. Mater Dei is committed to providing students and families with the best service if problems do arise. When students (or their parents) purchase resources directly from Apple, Amazon, or other platforms, it can be difficult to troubleshoot problems on behalf of a student. Many times, the representatives from each company prefer that students call them directly for any assistance, as the students are the account owner. By stepping in and providing these resources, Mater Dei representatives are able to troubleshoot problems more quickly.

We know this process will take some time to get used to but hope to provide the best service possible for our students. Thank you in advance for your patience as we transition to this practice.
